If you used the Bank Codes provided in this article previously, check if you can cancel your request so you won’t be charged a P250.00 return fee should the transaction be canceled due to incorrect information. Also, now that we know the “official” bank codes, update your bank account information stored in PayPal.

Paypal for Filipino Freelancer

Last November 29, 2007 I went to Unionbank to get my EON Unionbank debit card.
To my curiosity, I search for user’s feedback online and here’s what they can
say about the EON Unionbank Cyber Account debit card:

1. It would take 5-7 days to transfer money from Paypal to Unionbank EON.
2. PayPal does not always accept the Unionbank EON card.

And here are some tips to avoid being denied on your PayPal activation:

1. You need to deposit atleast PhP 100.00 on your EON card to make some transaction history.
2. Call the Unionbank Customer Care at (632) 84186 if your account is already active.
3. Enroll your Unionbank Cyber Account for Internet Banking.
4. In your EON/Unionbank online banking page there is a place to send a bank email
to request for EXPUSE number 4-digit.
5. Once you got the number, go back to the My Account Overview section of the PayPal web
site and click on “Finish Expanded Use Enrollment” to enter the 4-digit number.

6. After you entered the EXPUSE code, you will receive a confirmation message
indicating that your credit card has been verified.

I do hope that there will be more other alternatives to have a Paypal account in the Philippines.

Since I started on freelancing I was looking for an alternative to receive PayPal payment. Philippines is one of those unfortunate country that has a limited privilege. Users from the Philippines could only use PayPal to pay for transactions online.

As of this time, it is not possible to do the following:

* Load up one’s account thru credit card
* Receive funds
* Withdraw funds into a local bank account.

If you would like to receive PayPal in the Philippines not on a limited basis, lets support the campaign of Paypal Now!.

For the meantime as an alternative you can still receive paypal payment from your clients or even your relatives outside the Philippines.

* Sign up for a Xoom account.
* enter your personal bank account. See complete list of supported banks here.

In my personal experience, I’ve been using China Bank personal savings account that was attached to my Xoom account. China charge 200 pesos each transaction deposit by Xoom through my account. Open a savings account with them and enroll banking online. In my humble opinion this is the best bank when it comes to user friendly system. The GUI (Graphical User Interface) and there website is Powered by AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript And XML)

* Paste the button on your website or send the link to your client via email.
* Client receives the “request for payment”, creates a Xoom account or logs in and processes the payment using his Paypal account, credit card or eCheck.
* You get a confirmation email with the tracking number and receive the payment directly into your bank account in just an hour.

Following are the Xoom fee ranges:
(Xoom limit every transaction is $2,500)

Amount Xoom Fee

$1,500.00 – $2,500.00 $60.00

$1,000.00 $40.00

$500.00 $20.00
